What Is A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?

NJ Outpatient Treatment For Mental Health and Substance Use

A partial hospitalization program is an intensive, high-level outpatient treatment program that offers the greatest degree of support for early intervention. At this level of care, you have the freedom to sleep at home while still receiving a full day of treatment and professional care.

A Partial Hospitalization Program, or day treatment, is a good fit for those who have already attended residential treatment or have just completed a medical detox. At Epiphany Wellness, our providers will support you each day as you learn new coping skills, discover healthy thought patterns, regulate your emotions, and increase interpersonal skills.

What Is The Next Step After A Partial Hospitalization Program?

After you or a loved one has completed a Partial Hospitalization Program, the next step down in care would be an IOP. This offers a reduced level of care with a greater level of freedom in your schedule. You will still have access to individual therapy sessions, group therapy, and support groups but will attend fewer sessions now that you’ve reached a greater degree of personal autonomy.

Frequently Asked Questions About Partial Hospitalization Programs

What is behavioral health, and how does it help?

Behavioral health is a scientific approach to identifying, diagnosing, preventing, and treating mental health and substance use disorders. Here, the client will learn new and healthier techniques for addressing thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships in order to develop healthier behavior patterns.

How does PHP differ from rehab?

Rehab usually refers to a residential facility but can also be used in reference to outpatient care. A PHP program is often part of rehab treatment options. While they are different, they often go hand-in-hand when addressing mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders for long-term care.

Partial Care Program (PCP) vs. Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): What’s the difference?

The terms Partial Care Programs and Partial Hospitalization Programs are often used interchangeably. They offer the same level of care, do not require residential attendance, are short-term interventions, and are a step down from medical detox or inpatient treatment.

How much do PHPs cost?

The cost of treatment for PHP and other mental health or substance use disorder programs will vary depending on the severity of the disorder and the scope of your treatment program. In many cases, these treatments are covered by insurance. To verify your eligibility for insurance coverage, call Epiphany Wellness today.

How long does a PHP last?

The treatment plan for each client is always uniquely designed to meet their individual needs. How long treatment will last for you will be determined by your treatment plan, the severity of your disorders, and your level of participation in therapy.

However, most PHP programs are only one portion of a larger continuum of care that ranges from detox and MAT therapy to IOPs and OPs that usually last between 30 and 90 days. Your time in our PHP program could be as little as a few days and as much as a few weeks.
