We recognize that many times mental health and substance abuse co-occur and influence one another in complicated ways. Thus, rather than treat each condition separately or sequentially, we offer comprehensive, integrated care that treats both of your disorders simultaneously.
Regardless of whether your primary concern is your mental health or a substance use problem, we employ an integrated approach to addressing and treating both issues as they relate to your overall well-being.
We’re work with most major insurance providers, most of whom offer coverage for mental health treatment. Our admissions team will determine the general level of care needed for mental health services and confirm your benefits with your provider.

Why Choose Epiphany Wellness for Mental Health Treatment
Helping You and Your Loved Ones Heal
REBT helps you explore your beliefs that contribute to your depression, anxiety, and other mental health symptoms. Therapists assist clients in examining their own beliefs, such as “I have to be perfect,” “Everyone should like me,” or “Life should be fair.” Through this process of disputing these inflexible and unrealistic beliefs, clients can create more flexible and rational thought processes that result in less emotional distress and greater resilience. REBT is particularly helpful in treating anxiety disorders in which clients engage in catastrophic thinking when experiencing anxiety, in which self-criticism and harsh judgment contribute to a persistently low mood.
ACT provides an alternative, more effective approach to treating depression and anxiety than trying to eliminate or change the negative feelings of sadness, anxiety, and other emotions. Instead of attempting to fix the problem of anxiety or sadness, ACT teaches clients how to accept these feelings and learn to live with them while still pursuing their goals. Clients develop a clear understanding of what they value in life and how to live according to these values, even when they experience discomfort. This is especially beneficial for clients who have struggled for years to not only manage their emotional distress but also to seek out situations that cause distress.
CBT is one of the most researched and validated forms of treatment for depression, anxiety disorders, and other mental health issues. CBT helps the client connect the dots between thought, emotion, physical sensation, and behavior as a means of exacerbating and maintaining mental health issues.
Utilizing the skills developed in therapy, clients will identify cognitive distortions in their thinking, such as all-or-nothing thinking, overgeneralizing, and catastrophizing. Through structured exercises, clients will gather evidence both for and against negative automatic thoughts, create more balanced ways of looking at problems, and create and practice new behaviors to test out replacing previously ineffective behaviors.
Experiential therapy allows clients to engage in activities that support the purpose of accessing emotional insight through experience, not merely intellectual discussion. At our Massachusetts location, we offer experiential therapy utilizing art therapy, drum circles, and other hands-on activities to help clients engage in therapeutic modalities beyond talk therapy. Many clients have found that engaging in experiential therapy is particularly valuable for processing trauma and accessing the emotions that clients have suppressed or avoided over the years, and rediscovering strengths and resources previously not realized by the client.
Mental health impacts the entire family, and thus, there are family dynamics, communication patterns, and roles within a family unit that both help and hinder a family’s ability to recover from mental health disorders. The family therapy services at Epiphany Wellness in Massachusetts involve the family members of a client as part of the recovery process, working with family members to improve family dynamics and reduce the emotional burden of mental illness on all family members.
Our team focuses on the family dynamics that may be reinforced accidentally by the client’s continued mental health struggles, to ensure family members understand how to communicate effectively and demonstrate an empathic understanding of how their mental illness may have affected them.
Psychoeducation is designed to empower a client to understand, learn about, and feel a part of the recovery process. Psychoeducational services cover, but are not limited to: the neurobiology of mental illness/neuroscience of mental disorder, neurotransmitter systems affecting mood and anxiety, the interaction between genetic and environmental factors affecting mental health, and the process of moving from crisis to recovery.
Increased awareness of the biological factors contributing to depression and anxiety decreases the shame and guilt that often accompany an individual’s mental illness. In addition to providing a foundation for understanding mental illness, psychoeducation also focuses on practical information about how to identify when symptoms of mental illness are worsening, develop a long-term wellness plan to manage mental health, understand the interaction of exercise, nutrition, and sleep on emotional well-being, and establish healthy daily routines to maintain emotional stability.
EMDR is a specialized therapy that can be effective in processing trauma and reducing the symptoms of trauma. Our clinicians trained in EMDR use research-based techniques to assist clients in processing trauma-related distressful memories, emotions, and beliefs.
EMDR involves recalling the traumatic event while performing bilateral stimulation, which for most clients, is accomplished through the use of guided eye movement, supporting and enhancing the brain’s ability to heal naturally. EMDR assists clients in decreasing the emotional intensity associated with traumatized memories, changing negative beliefs associated with trauma, and reducing symptoms associated with trauma, including flashbacks, nightmares, emotional distress/hypervigilance, and emotional reactivity.
Psychodrama provides a completely different therapeutic approach than all other therapeutic approaches. Psychodrama provides an opportunity for clients to use action and movement instead of speaking to explore and process emotional issues through dramatic enactments of real experiences. While in a psychodrama session, clients are provided the opportunity to re-enact the events of their life that impacted them, act out the perspective of others involved in those events, explore various aspects of their life through creative movement, and gain insight into a previously protective holding pattern that may prevent them from reconnecting with themselves.
We understand the courage it takes to seek help, especially when you struggle to decrease the severity of your emotional suffering and to believe that there is hope for the future. We treat clients dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, or other emotional challenges that restrict them from living life to their fullest potential.

Signs that you might benefit from professional mental health support include persistent sadness or anxiety, difficulty managing daily responsibilities, changes in sleep or eating patterns, withdrawal from relationships, substance use as a coping mechanism, or thoughts of self-harm. If you’re experiencing any combination of these symptoms for more than two weeks, or if they’re interfering with your work, relationships, or overall quality of life, reaching out for help is an essential first step.
Mental health treatment costs in Massachusetts vary depending on your level of care and treatment duration. Epiphany Wellness accepts all major private insurance plans, and most health insurance policies include mental health coverage thanks to federal and Massachusetts mental health parity laws. During your initial contact with our admissions team, we’ll verify your specific mental health benefits and provide a clear explanation of your coverage, deductibles, copays, and estimated out-of-pocket costs. For those without insurance coverage, we offer private pay rates and can discuss payment plans. We encourage you to contact us regardless of financial concerns, as various options often exist that make quality mental health treatment more accessible than you might expect.
The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act requires that insurance companies cover mental health treatment at levels comparable to medical treatment, which significantly reduces out-of-pocket expenses for many individuals. This means deductibles, copays, treatment limits, and utilization review processes for mental health must be equivalent to those for physical health conditions.
Approximately 18% of Massachusetts adults experience mental illness in a given year, which translates to roughly one million residents.[6] Nearly 5% of adults in the Commonwealth experience serious mental illness that substantially interferes with one or more major life activities. Youth mental health is also a significant concern, with approximately 14% of Massachusetts adolescents experiencing major depressive episodes.
Mental health challenges are common, treatable, and nothing to be ashamed of. Reaching out for professional support is a sign of strength.
Massachusetts offers robust mental health resources compared to many states, with numerous hospitals, outpatient clinics, and specialized treatment programs throughout the Commonwealth. The state benefits from world-class medical institutions, a strong behavioral health workforce, and relatively high insurance coverage rates due to Massachusetts’ healthcare reform. Massachusetts law requires mental health parity in insurance coverage, ensuring mental health conditions receive treatment coverage comparable to physical health conditions.
