About Liz

Meet Liz Cooney, who serves as the Director of Community Outreach at Epiphany, bringing years of both personal and professional experience in the field of substance use disorder and mental health treatment. Liz began her career in early recovery by managing a women’s sober living home and quickly progressed to Director of Operations, overseeing four homes with a total of 98 beds. Her passion for helping others continued to grow as she transitioned into the treatment space, working for a Partial Hospitalization/Intensive Outpatient Program (PHP/IOP) for four years in various roles, including Intake Coordinator, Admissions Manager, Alumni Coordinator, and Community Outreach & Business Development Representative.

Liz then advanced to the role of Senior Business Development Manager for an inpatient detox and clinical stabilization services program, where she spent two years deepening her knowledge of the continuum of care within the behavioral health space. Through these roles, she has cultivated a deep understanding of the treatment landscape and the importance of collaboration to support individuals and families in need. At Epiphany, Liz focuses on strengthening existing partnerships, establishing new referral relationships, expanding resources, and increasing brand visibility through networking, marketing, tours, and community events. She works closely with hospitals, treatment centers, social workers, therapists, and other providers to ensure clients have access to the care they need — whether it’s a higher level of care or supportive aftercare options. Liz also keeps both staff and clients informed about the evolving community resources and opportunities for connection.

Liz is driven by her own lived experience and a firm belief in the power of kindness, compassion, and collaboration. She understands firsthand the challenges of addiction and recovery and values the importance of teamwork in creating lasting change. Her goal is to ensure that Epiphany’s mission is not only heard but felt within the community.

In long-term recovery herself, Liz is a proud mother of two boys, a wife, and someone who takes great pride in living as a productive, purpose-driven member of society. Her gratitude for the journey — and the people who have supported her along the way — fuels her passion to help others find hope and healing. In her free time, Liz enjoys spending time with her family and their beloved pets.
